"He supposedly took one to the head when the Swedes came over to stop the Russkies from overrunning us Finns... but I don't think he was all that stable to begin with.". He's actually Norwegian. (this is a reference to "The Thing"). If you can remind him that he's from Norway, he will give you the yeast. His job is chopping wood and keeping the woodpile stacked.

She is a shrewd trader, one of the original "settlers" and a good friend of Kimmo and the Nittys. She keeps track of all the communal inventory, particularly food and supplies. She knows that if the food gets any shorter, their might be trouble if there is another long winter. She also has a supply of wild potatoes (which she will give to the actor), and a pot (which she will barter for something else, like the pocket knife, or a similar item.)

This old coot has been living off the land since long before the war. He moved into the Paatalo because he was getting too old to fight off wolves and bandits on his own. He tends the greenhouse farm, although with a couple apprentices. He has the grain, which can be used to make the best beer.

The two teenage boys, Rasmus and Sami, help the old farmer. They don't talk much at all, but work hard if they are fed. They enjoy listening to old stories told by Manslow.

He is big, dumb, and looks mean. His job is to scrape the snow off the parking lot and keep the cistern/tanker full of snow (which is melted rapid and turned to steam for heat.
